Footballs solution to Concussions. Wrap Up!

The concern of concussions have been a serious issue in the NFL in recent years. Former and current players are complaining they are having brain damage and loss of memory because of the hits they took while playing the game. First off, these guys need to close their freaking mouths!

These men are paid MILLIONS of dollars to put on a helmet and hit the living snot out of the guy in front of them. There are going to be precautions while playing, but they all knew that when they signed the contract. Teaching the proper way to tackle and enforce it in the NFL could lead to less concussions and injuries. These is what leads me into the game of Rugby. In Rugby, you are required to "wrap up" when making a tackle. If you try to grab anywhere around the neck or shoulder charge, you are penaltized and sometimes taken out of the game. Why can't we do the same in football.

The statistics are all there. There are less concussions in the game of Rugby, and they dont even wear pads. For a prime example, lets take a look at the picture above. First off the one of the left (England player taking down a Ireland player), the tackler has his arms "wrapped" around the players chest and is using his weight to take him down. Proper technique and great tackle. Now to the picture on the right (Seahawks player shoulder charging a Saints player), we have the tackler leaving his feet and throwing his shoulder into the opposing player. Not safe and by the look on his face; concussion.

The NFL is starting to bring out hefty fines for players that give hits like that and delibertly try to take the player out of the game. But I feel strict rules need to be taken in effect. Like teaching the PROPER way to tackle. It might make the fans starting screaming at the NFL, but it will safe them millions in lawsuits they are about to get sooner or later.
