New Era of the Orlando Magic

The Dwight Howard saga is over Magic fans. He is for sure going to get either traded (def. going to happen) or play out the 2012 season and become a free agent (no chance). We had our good memories with Shaq...I mean Dwight. In all honesty it was time for a change and the Magic organization thought the same. They were paying the luxury tax for old expiring contacts from the likes of Hedo Turkoglu, Jason Richardson, Chris Duhon, Quentin Richardson and J.J Reddick. All of these players are likely to get moved to open up salary space before the beginning of the season.

The first step for the Magic was to hire and new General Manager. After much looking and interviewing they hired Asst. GM Rob Hennigan of the OKC Thunder. Hennigan was a big part in putting together a team with names like Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, Serge Ibaka and James Harden. Before the Thunder, Hennigan was with the San Antonio Spurs. So basically this guy knows what he is doing. The first order of business for this new General Manager is to find a new head coach. Oh yeah, and do something about Dwight Howard!Hennigans first move was firing the entire scouting department. Also he fired the old Asst. GM. Sorry I dont know his name. Not a bad start Hennigan. Lets see what else you got under your sleeve.

Like I said before, this is a new era for the Magic. The NBA Draft is right around the corner. Teams like the Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks and the Brooklyn Nets have all expressed interest in trading for Howard. Even if it is for only a year. But what this means for the Magic is that they could shed some of their current rosterl mainly those getting overpaid and our under performing (Turk, Duhon, Richardson). Some players that have caught my eyes are Terrance Jones(UK), Jared Sullinger(OSU), Arnett Moultrie (Miss St.), & Moe Harkless (St. Johns).

Hopefully this will bring a whole new superstar to Orlando and we can cheer their names for a few more years. The NBA is always changing and players are always moving. Doesnt seem like their are many players that stay with their teams their whole careers. Only ones I can think of are Kobe Bryant, Paul Pierce, Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, and Dwayne Wade. That is not many.

I would have said Howard but he is gone. Sorry again.
